Chill and Unwind on Portugese Beach Pittwater

Portugese Beach is one of our favourite spots on Pittwater.

You can motor here from our base at Bayview Marina in about 30 minutes.

We often enjoy a morning sail up towards Lion Island and then chill out here for lunch.

There are no moorings in the bay but anchoring is straightforward.

The bottom is Sandy and shelves gradually towards the beach.

The Basin is close by if you need a more sheltered spot to stay overnight.

This is a great beach for kids to play on.

Our children are always quite happy spending hours digging in the sand and exploring the little creek.

You can stay overnight here in settled weather - protection from Westerly winds is excellent.

It might be on your list in the winter when evening and morning westerlies are common.

Portugese Bay is across the water from Palm Beach.

It's lovely to spend the evening sipping a drink and looking across towards the twinkling lights of civilisation.

And if you're feeling energetic, it's worth getting up to see the sunrise.

You get a great view from here of the fist rays peeping above the Peninsula.
