Pittwater Yacht Charter

Bareboat Offshore Yacht Sailing Charters

Ever dreamed of following in the footsteps of Captain Cook…

… and skippering your own yacht between the famous North and South Heads and into Sydney Harbour?

Now you can!

SmartBoating are delighted to have two of the few Australian charter yachts in 4C bareboat offshore survey.

Our 2015 Hanse 415 ‘2easy” and  Hanse 385 ‘Out of Sight’ are beautiful, luxurious yachts and are a pleasure to sail.

A two or three day charter would give you heaps of time to sail from Pittwater to Sydney Harbour and back.

You could leave our Marina at Bayview after an early morning briefing and enjoy a relaxing sail up Pittwater past Palm Beach and Barrenjoey Lighthouse.

You might even see the cast of Home and Away filming on the beach!

Then you turn to starboard, out through the heads and onto the Tasman Sea.

Depending on the wind strength and direction most sailing yacht charters take around 3-4 hours to reach Sydney Harbour.

You’ll pass a beautiful stretch of coastline – the Northern Beaches characterised by rolling hills, rugged cliffs and golden sandy beaches.

As you get nearer to Sydney you’ll see North Head appear in the distance – its a very imposing sight – towering vertically out of the ocean.

If you keep heading South until you are level with the middle of the gap between the heads you can really get an impression of how small the gap looks and why Captain Cook sailed past the first time.

Then as you turn into Sydney Harbour you’ll find yourself smiling as this fabulous waterway opens up in front of you.

Athol Bay is a good place to spend the night. You’ll enjoy a great view of the Bridge and Opera House as you sip your sunset drinks.

The following day you can take some time to explore Sydney Harbour – perhaps you might sail under Sydney Harbour Bridge and head to the Fish Markets for a delicious lunch.

You might like to spend your second night in Middle Harbour or even head under the Spit Bridge for a quiet night in Sugar Loaf Bay.

You can head back up the Coast to Pittwater on day 3 and perhaps enjoy a relaxing late lunch at the Basin before returning to our marina for a late afternoon drop off.

Offshore Yacht Sailing Charters – Whale Watching

You probably know that huge numbers of Humpback whales migrate up and down the Sydney coastline each year often just a mile or so offshore.

From March to May they swim North, heading for the warm waters off the Queensland coast.

Then in September and October they turn South again towards the rich feeding grounds of Summer Antarctica.

Spring is a particularly good time for whale watching off the Northern Beaches as we often see mothers and calves swimming together.

You could just book the Hanse 415 or Hanse 385 for a day charter and do your own private whale watching trip.
